Spring has sprung

Hi everyone! It's finally starting to feel more like spring. Although the cold lingered for longer than normal this season, it's disappearing just as we release our new spring/sumer collection. Perfect timing!

Our designer Josie really out did herself with this season's collection. After a long, dull winter the bright colours really stand out and the Up Up and Away Balloon theme has come into its own now that we finally have some blue sky! And, of course, they are all made from our organic and Fairtrade certified cotton.

Our photoshoot for this collection was a huge success. We brought in some super star models (they were great in front of the camera and extremely well behaved!). It was really exciting to see people enjoying the products that we have put so much hard work into.

We hope that you love our spring/summer collection as much as we do. We are already working hard on SS14, and as ever your feedback is very welcome! E-mail josie@littlegreenradicals.co.uk to tell us what you want to see in our next collections. Thank you for your continued support.

New year, new ranges

We have spent the early part of the New Year planning all the lovely goodies that we will be bringing in this year.  In February and March we will have some new organic skincare and our new Spring Summer range. Later in the year we will also be bringing in a new natural collection, made with  undyed organic cotton, and lots more too.

We had a fantastic photo shoot for our Autumn Winter range last week (you won't be seeing the results for a while!). Josie, our designer, did a fantastic job, and so did Tim, our photogropher, but the stars of the show were undoutedly our Little Green Radicals models. You will be seeing their gorgeous faces on our website later in the year. Thanks to everyone. Job well done.

Happy Christmas and see you next year

2012 has been a fantastic year for Little Green Radicals, particularly when we were joined by lots of Green Baby customers in November. We also got a great new team member – Gaby.

Next year we will be expanding our range a lot, including sleepsuits with feet, skincare, baby blankets, pyjamas and snug jackets. Our designer, Josie, has her work cut.

Don’t forget our sale is now on so have a rummage and see what you think.

Tis the season....

Green Baby News

On 4th October Green Baby Trading Ltd ceased trading. Like you, we were sad to see this happen. The administrator was unable to sell the company as a whole but did sell many of its assets to us at Little Green Radicals, but not the brand.

Little Green Radicals has exactly the same values as Green Baby. We have been on the same journey and have shared many of the same experiences. We are a small team but are all passionately committed to getting it right for our new Green Baby customers.

Over the coming months we will undergo many positive changes and want to be guided by our new customers as well as our current ones.

Next spring we will launch a brand new website and we will be introducing wonderful new products throughout the year to expand our range and offer you more choice.

Organic kids love marshmallows, toffee apples and pumpkin soup

Little Green Radicals children love this time of year. My boy goes wild for the fireworks. But it’s the food that gets them all really excited. The favourites for our Little Green Radicals organic kids are toffee apples, marshmallows, and pumpkin soup. So I thought I would supply three recipes that I particularly like, toffee apples from Nigel Slater, marshmallows from Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and pumpkin soup from Delia. Admittedly, the sugar content in the toffee apples and marshmallows is what makes these recipes fantabulous for children, and the good news it you can easily get organic and Fairtrade sugar.

Organic t-shirt slogans – it’s the thought that counts

In the beginning it was all about the slogans. In those days being Fairtade and organic was often seen as boring, stodgy even. So we wanted to make it fun, radical, quirky.  We agreed our organic baby clothes would have bright colours, so no one would think we conformed to the stereotype. The first list of organic t-shirt and babygrow slogans was:

I recycle my tantrums, wind farm, working towards emissions reductions targets, give peas a chance, and I won’t stop screaming til you sort out the planet.

I recycle my tantrums still gets them laughing in the isles, and wind farm does seem to be bought by quite a few fathers.

After that we mellowed a bit and came up will many of our organic best sellers like locally produced, free range, and dolphin friendly.

Then, of course, there was the sanding the floor (it does give off some strange fumes), which reignited the radical gene, and a little fish punk trio of never mind the pollocks (pollacks if your Cornish!), god save the bream, and the great rock and sole swindle.

Most of these fantastic little gems still find their way onto our lovely organic baby boys and girls clothes, and some may be making a return some time soon.  The floor also needs sanding again.

Little Green Radicals First Blog -  at last

Hello Little Green Radical fans and assorted guests.

We started life in 2005 and ever since then we have been saying “one day we will start a blog”, and then people will know that we are not troglodytes, subterraneans determined to avoid natural sunlight. We are real, mostly happy, mostly rounded, genuine whole human beings who love life and want people to talk to us about fashion, kids, ethics, baking, swimming, Japanese marshal arts and cracks in the pavement. Today is that day. We are here. We exist. So let me begin by thanking you for reading my first post. The emotional tumult is over. We have arrived.

I promise my next post will be slightly less emotional. In the meantime if you have strong views on any the above subjects please do call us on 020 7733 5027 or visit our Facebook page
